  • Saturday February 4th – @ 10am & 1 pm: “How Does Your Garden Grow?”

    Presented by: Randy Robison- Jedi Master Gardener. What, when, where and how to be successful at growing vegetables in Northern Nevada. Please RSVP by calling 775-355-1551.


  • Saturday February 11th @ 9am-3:30pm and Sunday February 12th @ 10:30am-12pm or 1:30pm-3pm: “Four Seasons Farming & Gardening with Eliot Coleman”

    Presented by Eliot Coleman-Best-selling Author and Expert in Season Extension and Year-round Vegetable Production. Learn about moveable greenhouses and using fabric covers, rodent control, farm tools, soil health, vegetable varieties that survive well in the cold, and more. Saturday will focus on season extension practices for small farms and commercial enterprises. Sunday will focus on season extension with the use of portable tunnels for the home garden. Cost: Saturday- $85.00, Sunday (either session) $50.00.


  • Saturday February 18th @ 11am: “Winter Pruning of Trees & Shrubs”

    Presented by Dick Post- Local Expert and Author. :earn how to correctly prune trees, shrubs and fruit trees. Proper tools and techniques will be covered. Please RSVP by calling 775-355-1551.


  • Saturday February 25th @ 11am: “Composting At Home”

    Presented by: Ron Shulman- Master Composter. Learn how to set-up easy compost systems in your home. Regular composting and vermaculture (worm farms) will be covered. Please RSVP by calling 775-355-1551.


  • Saturday February 25th @ 1pm: “Build and Bling Gourd Birdhouses”

    Presented by: Jack Fulton- Gourd Guru. Learn the techniques for building gourd birdhouses and making them look fabulous for your feathered friends. Great project for the whole family that will make a wonderful gift. Growing info for you to grow your own will also be covered. Cost: $15.00 per gourd- includes all other supplies.     Presented by: Randy Robison- Jedi Master Gardener. Now is the time to start indoors and even plant outdoors many vegetable varieties. Learn what it takes to grow an abundance of fresh food in your garden. Emphasis will be on early season protection. Please RSVP by calling 775-355-1551.

  • Saturday March 10th @ 10am & 1pm: “Mason Bees for Pollination”

    Presented by: Certified Square Foot Gardening Teachers. Developed by Mel Bartholomew, SFG is the most efficient and successful way to grow vegetables in almost any environment.   • Saturday March 31st @ 9am-12pm: “Wilbur D. May Arboretum Clean-Up”

    Join the may Arboretum, Rail City Garden Center and News Talk 780 KOH for the annual clean-up at the May Arboretum. Show off and learn new gardening skills from volunteer instructors who will conduct hands-on work shops on pruning, tree pruning and planting. Come early for refreshments. We have all the tools; just bring a pair of gloves. Please RSVP by calling 775-785-4153 and leave a message.

  • Saturday March 31st @ 1pm: “Grafting Fruit Trees”

    Presented by Michael Janik- Expert Apple Grower. Learn simple techniques of grafting apple trees. Each participant will do six (6) trees to take home. Cost: $ 40.00 for tools and materials. You take home six (6) apple trees. Please RSVP by calling 775-355-1551.
